Welcome to the AYL Harvesters Reflections devotional website, where you will have a chance to read commentary from your leaders and your peers. More importantly, you'll also read from God's Word and, in the process, learn more about the Bible, the Christian life, and what it means to follow Jesus Christ.
is it okay if i share this website with people who are not in AYL?
ReplyDeleteYes, but my suggestion is that you should share this with other Christians.
Deletewas there any particular reason/way you guys chose the certain verses to read?
ReplyDeletelike how you started with Psalm 7 then moved onto Mark in April?
Should I also read the bible from genesis and read through?
or do you suggest I follow the blog's order for those who haven't truly read the Bible yet?
Angela, we are following a guide prepared by the American Bible Society. You can download a copy of their guide at this website:

I am not exactly sure how the American Bible Society selected these verses for each and every day, but I do know that for some of the days they selected verses that correspond with significant dates on the Christian calendar, like Easter or Christmas. I think they are trying to provide snippets from the Bible that over the course of a year give readers a fuller understanding of the work of God.
I do not recommend starting at Genesis and reading through. I would encourage you to try to just follow this guide for now. If one day you are ambitious and you actually want to read the entire Bible, there are some good guides that arrange the books of the BIble chronologically in the order that events are believed to have happened. These chronological guides tend to make the task of reading the BIble in its entirety more coherent. But as I said, for now I think the AYL/American Bible Society guide is a good one to follow. That's why we adopted it in AYL.
Here's one example of a chronological guide...

Good luck! I'm glad you're interested in reading the BIble! Don't hesitate to ever ask us leaders any questions you may have.
I like that the ABS guide mentions the church year. Tell everyone that the season of Advent is coming soon!
